Foundation Partners with U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission
The Paso del Norte Foundation is proud to partner with the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission (BHC) implementing a Mental Health and Substance Abuse Train the Trainers Program for Promotoras de Salud along the border. The training is based on the Mental Health Gap Action Program (mhGAP) Intervention Guide for mental, neurological, and substance use disorders in non-specialized health settings developed by the World Health Organization and adapted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA). The two-day workshops, conducted in partnership with ten local nonprofit organizations, focus on community and substance abuse disorders in non-specialized health settings, providing community health workers basic training in mental health screenings and referrals. WE(fillintheblank) to Host BORDERiZE Symposium

WE(fillintheblank), a group of non-partisan high school students, will host their first annual BORDERiZE Symposium for the youth from El Paso, Las Cruces, and Ciudad Juárez, with the aim of utilizing the unique perspective of the border to engage youth in politics.

On Friday, March 20th at El Paso Community College and Saturday, March 21st at Coronado High School, 300 high school students from throughout the region will gather to meet with local politicians, community leaders, and experts in their fields to discuss ways to better our community. Students will develop a white paper with policy suggestions that will be presented to the government official(s) and/or community groups who would be responsible for implementing such policy(ies).

WE(fillintheblank) is now accepting student applications for the event as well as contributions to support the BORDERiZE Symposium. The Paso del Norte Foundation is pleased to serve as a fiscal agent for the Symposium.  Learn more or donate today!
